The view from your living room and waterfront sets a dramatic stage looking directly across Port Susan Bay to the Cascades and Mount Baker. Originally a logging camp, there are nine buildings on site including the original beach cottage, a barn and chicken coop.

Tie up to your mooring buoy out front after you’ve limited on crab (or use the boat sling) and head for the shared tennis court. Or, hike miles of beaches in each direction. Visit the nearby Port Susan Estuary which abounds with wildlife including eagles, salmon, and Wrangel Island snow geese.

For the gardener, the estate grounds are rich with flowers, vegetable gardens and fruit trees. The property is served both by its own well water and a shared neighborhood system.

The barn is memorable. Most recently used as the owner’s woodworking shop, the barn boasts post and beam construction, an epoxy-sealed floor and new metal roof. The barn’s upper floor has been lots of things over the years, from a kids playhouse to an art studio.

At Port Susan Terrace, casual and formal entertaining spaces abound indoors and out. Flip pancakes or prepare a souffle in either the connoisseur’s kitchen in the main house or use a second kitchen in the connected Guest House.  Built for solitude or entertainment, Port Susan Terrace sleeps from one to twenty in extraordinary beachfront comfort.

  LOCATION

Captain George Vancouver’s expedition arrived at Port Susan in 1792 and named it honor of Lady Susan Gardner, his commander’s bride.

Port Susan Bay and estuary holds some of the finest habitat in Puget Sound. Its marshes, vast mudflats and tidally influenced channels support hundreds of thousands of birds, several species of salmon, smelt, English sole and clams. Western sandpipers, dunlins and dowitchers swoop over the mudflats. Look for Port Susan’s “Sounders”, or grey whales, while you check your crab pots. Wrangel Island snow geese gather by the thousands in tidal marshes and on nearby farm fields. And hundreds of raptors, from peregrine falcons to short-eared owls, add to the drama.

Each Spring the Port Susan Home & Garden Show provides a wealth of inspiration and information for your home and garden. And, on Spring and Summer Fridays, shop at the Port Susan Farmers Market for the freshest local produce, flowers, meat, cheese, bread and hand crafted items from local artists.
